MEB dematerialises international formalities

Since the introduction of electronic signatures in the Principality, the Monaco Economic Board has started rolling out the dematerialisation of its international formalities service.

“The Monaco Economic Board, in its prerogatives as a chamber of commerce, is the contact for Monégasque companies to obtain certified documents in order to be able to export their goods outside the European Union.  Following the ATA Carnets in 2023, it will be possible to issue all international formalities from 4 April, via a dedicated portal,” the chamber of commerce has announced.  Since the implementation of electronic signatures in the Principality, the MEB has gradually rolled out the dematerialisation of its international formalities service, with the support of the Interministerial Delegation for the Digital Transition and in conjunction with the International Chamber of Commerce and the network of French chambers of commerce.

The territory of Monaco and France form a customs union, so export formalities are the same for both.  “The network of French chambers of commerce, to which the MEB is attached, has set up the common digital portal, GEFI*, which allows companies from each region (or country in Monaco's case) to carry out their export formalities in a dematerialised manner.  Managed by the Paris Chamber of Commerce, the Monégasque version of this portal required adjustments in order to meet the particularities of the Principality.   Following the 2019 introduction of the system for temporary exports (ATA Carnets), all international formalities can now be carried out on the GEFI portal,” explains the chamber of commerce.  “With this new stage of dematerialisation, the Monaco Economic Board confirms its desire to provide efficient, high-quality international formalities services for all economic players in the Principality.  This is important for the competitiveness of the Monégasque economy and the fluidity of our commercial transactions,” commented MEB CEO, Guillaume Rose.

The MEB's International Formalities Department has planned a transition period during which it offers Monégasque companies the chance to come to their offices for support in their online procedures.
