From Casablanca to Rabat: High-level meetings and discussions
The Monaco Economic Board (MEB), together with the Club des Entrepreneurs Monégasques en Afrique (CEMA), led a trade mission to Morocco, the initial results of which are extremely positive.
Led by Guillaume Rose, Managing Director of the MEB, his Deputy Director Justin Highman and Frédéric Geerts, Managing Director of the CEMA, the Monegasque delegation was composed of 20 companies from the banking, insurance, consultancy, logistics, transport, international trade, information and communication technology and other sectors.
On the morning of Tuesday 16th April, the delegation was received at the Casablanca Finance City Authority (CFC), an African economic and financial hub recognised as the leading financial centre in Africa and a partner of the largest international financial centres. On-site, the entrepreneurs first attended a presentation on the business environment in Morocco. This was followed by a second bespoke presentation on investment trends and areas of influence in Africa at PwC.
In the afternoon, the Monegasque entrepreneurs were welcomed by the General Vice-President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the voice of the private sector in Morocco. Founded in 1947, it represents over 90,000 direct and affiliated members. It has established itself as the official representative of the private sector vis-à-vis the public authorities, social partners and institutional bodies.
On this occasion, a cooperation agreement was signed between the CGEM, the MEB and the CEMA.
This was followed by a networking session and a cocktail reception for Monegasque companies and Moroccan business leaders, who were able to discuss a wide range of opportunities for collaboration.
In the evening, a meeting between MEB and CEMA directors and Mustapha Zine, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Casablanca, added an extra Moroccan-Monegasque touch to the convivial atmosphere.
The mission continued on Wednesday, 17th April, in Rabat at the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), where the delegation was able to find out more about the incentives for investing in Morocco.
A rich programme of events in some of Morocco's most emblematic business locations, and economic meetings that should lead to numerous projects for Monegasque and Moroccan companies in the medium term.
