Members Rendezvous more networking than ever!
Some 350 players from across the economic spectrum gathered at the Yacht Club de Monaco for the Monaco Economic Board’s quarterly Members Rendezvous on Monday 18 September; an opportunity to network and do business.
Originally planned for the Observatory Deck of the Yacht Club de Monaco’s premises, the 30th Members Rendezvous was moved to the equally elegant Ballroom due to the weather.
For the first time, as well as emailing a list of those attending the event beforehand, the MEB helped companies schedule one-on-one meetings that were held in an area away from the main networking cocktail. The initiative was unanimously welcomed by everyone, as being a more effective way to utilize the meeting to target potential contacts. In total, 70 meetings took place, putting 90 entrepreneurs in contact with 57 companies. A win-win formula!
Another new initiative involved MonacoTech, the Principality’s incubator-accelerator structure for start-ups set up by the government in partnership with Monaco Telecom and Xavier Niel. The first start-ups to be selected were invited to present their businesses to the meeting which was attended by Monaco’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Jean Castellini. These budding young entrepreneurs will be able to take full advantage of the MEB’s networks as they have been given two years’ membership free. According to MonacoTech’s Managing Director Fabrice Marquet, the project got off to a flying start. That day the second selection session by jury had taken place with everyone commenting on the quality of the candidates.
In his speech, MEB Chairman Michel Dotta talked about upcoming events. They include:
- a follow-up Trade Mission to Moscow (4-6 October) as part of Monaco Heritage Days organised by Monaco’s Ambassador to Russia, HE Mireille Pettiti, in partnership with the Tourism and Congress Authority, Ballets de Monte-Carlo and Monte-Carlo Princess Grace Check-up Unit;
- hosting a Swedish delegation (12 October) when Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip visits the Principality;
- a talk by Ludovic Subran, Chief Economist at Euler Hermes and Allianz, in partnership with the Junior Chamber of Commerce entitled “America at the foot of the Wall” (17 October); and
- Monaco Eco Club Awards in partnership with the Nice-Matin Group (28 November).
After the summer break, the MEB has hit the ground running to give Monaco companies driving the country’s prosperity opportunities to develop their business.
