Successful trip to World Chambers Congress in Dubai

01/12/2021

Guillaume Rose and Justin Highman, Executive Director General and Deputy Director General, respectively, of the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) attended the 12th World Chambers Congress 23-25 November which brought Chambers from all over the world to Dubai. It was an opportunity to make many new contacts and get the ball rolling for the planned Trade Mission to Dubai 25-29 January 2022.

Organised by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the biennial World Chambers Congress gathered 100+ Chambers of Commerce from across the world and 1,200 delegates in-person and online. As a reminder, MEB is an ICC member in its Chamber of Commerce capacity and is the Monegasque National Committee within this global organisation.

There were many occasions to meet counterparts in Chambers from Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan), Serbia, France, Belgium, etc., and also Kevin Hin, former President of Monaco’s junior chamber, JCEM - Jeune Chambre Économique de Monaco, and now the current Secretary General of the Junior Chamber International.

In parallel, as part of preparations for the 25-29 January Trade Mission, all was in place to help Monegasque companies develop business relationships with countries in the Gulf, having been approached by:

- Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry;

- Dubai Multi Commodities Center, first free zone in the Emirates;

- Equiom, Altiqa, Three Towers and Key Strategies, all companies specialised in international business development and based both in Monaco and Dubai;

- Trade authorities from individual states that comprise the United Arab Emirates;

- The management of Monaco’s pavilion at Dubai Expo 2021 including Albert Croesi.

An appointment has been made to discuss preparations for a trip alternating meetings with key business and economic players in the Gulf and events in Monaco’s Pavilion.

At the request of Emirate representatives, keen to see a delegation of Monegasque companies in the region, a webinar is being organised to introduce them to Emirate institutions who can then help source relevant contacts that best match each business’s expectations.

Finally, the icing on the cake, many expatriate members from Monaco now living in Dubai will be very much involved in this mission.
