the MEB on reconnaissance mission to St. Petersburg

20/11/2019

With Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo having been invited to put on two performances for the Diaghilev Festival, the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) seized the opportunity to do a recce in preparation for its Trade Mission to St Petersburg, 1-4 June 2020.

MEB Executive Director General, Guillaume Rose and Diego Bonaventura, Director of the Monaco Chamber of Commerce department were in the former imperial capital, the country’s second largest city, to meet the key business organisations on 14-15 November. Discussions were held with their counterparts in the St Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce, and their partners Business Russia, a club of entrepreneurs with whom they have been building bridges for a long time. The purpose of the trip was to further increase opportunities for MEB members set to go on the Trade Mission next June.

On Thursday evening, all these prospects were invited to a superb performance by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo as a tribute to Diaghilev, a show inspired by the Ballets Russes centenary celebrations held in Monaco in 2009. Once again, the added value that culture brings is playing a key role in this business rapprochement.

MEB representatives are more ready than ever to welcome a delegation of entrepreneurs at SPIEF, Russia’s largest business forum which every year attracts some 10,000 leaders and business people from 100 countries. Meetings were held to develop a programme for June that looks set to more than match the expectations of the two delegations. Several sectors and companies have been identified as relevant to Monaco and will be proposed to MEB members in coming weeks as it prepares to maximise the Mission’s success.

Since the Russia Year In Monaco in 2015, a catalyst in boosting relations between the two countries, MEB has worked closely with the Monaco Embassy in Russia to promote opportunities available in this vast country.
