TVMonaco hopes that “It will do the trick”
Officially launched on September 1 in the presence of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, TVMonaco has every intention of making a name for itself. Created following the Principality's accession to the TV5 Monde network in December 2021, this Monegasque public channel, headed by the former France TV programme director Nathalie Biancolli, aims “to promote the Principality throughout the world”. Notably with the morning show “ça va l'faire”: recorded in an apartment transformed into a studio and sponsored by the singer Laurent Voulzy, this programme is broadcast on TV5Monde, just like the JT, and so can potentially reach 80 million viewers a week in 198 countries. “Initial feedback has been very satisfactory even if there is room for improvement. Viewers have praised the range of the programming and appreciate our focus on the environment (the other pillars being news, sport, and the art of living on the Riviera, Editor's note)", says Sofian Biouti, Director of communications, marketing and digital at TVMonaco, with a wink at one of the faces of the channel: MonaCoco. This avatar of a facetious and verbose seagull, presenter of an international Mouétéo, is the symbol of the offbeat tone of TVMonaco ... “The next step is to accelerate production in 2024. We have around a hundred hours in production and 300 hours to come”, explains Sofian Biouti, who is preparing to launch the VOD platform. “Our aim is to offer replay and exclusive content based on personalised recommendations, which can be accessed offline.” The revenue generating strategy should gain momentum over the coming weeks. The goal is for the channel’s entirely public funding (with a budget of 15 million euros in 2023) to be supplemented by advertising revenue.
The channel is currently accessible from the universal service of channel 1 and the Monaco Telecom box (channel 9), Free and Molotov and soon Canal+ as well.
The channel's flagship programmes are the 30-minute live news, called “L'actu” presented by Ambre Gstalder, the morning show “ça va l'faire ” and “ ça matche “.
