Economic ties strengthened during MEB's visit to Budapest

28/03/2025

From 24 to 26 March, a delegation of about ten member companies of the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) participated in an economic mission organised in Budapest. The reception met all expectations, and a particularly fruitful economic forum constituted the highlight of this very promising mission.

Within just 48 hours, the ten entrepreneurs participating in this MEB economic mission made the most of their time. Dense, rich in meetings and complemented by convivial moments, the outcome of this visit has proven highly satisfactory.

The culmination of this mission was a highly effective economic forum, organised in collaboration with the Hungarian Export Development Agency (HEPA) and with the support of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Each Monaco entrepreneur was able to meet at least six business contacts, carefully selected beforehand to match their needs and objectives. Particularly engaged, the Hungarian counterparts not only actively participated in discussions but also perfectly played their part during the networking lunch preceding this sequence, multiplying exchanges of business cards and facilitating connections.

Earlier in the morning, Guillaume Rose, CEO of the MEB, and Elek Nagy, President of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also Honorary Consul of Monaco in Hungary, signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Katalin Bihari, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and José-Luis Delso, Honorary Consul of Hungary in Monaco who had travelled alongside the MEB, were present at this occasion

In addition to HEPA and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, two other entities participated in welcoming the Monegasque delegation to present the strengths and specificities of the Hungarian ecosystem, but also to offer numerous opportunities for connections: the French Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA).

During the stay, other more informal occasions, notably the dinner held at the famous Gundel restaurant in the presence of H.E. Georges Habsburg-Lorraine, Ambassador of Hungary to France and Monaco, provided further networking opportunities for the delegation members. The programme of this mission also included a visit to an innovative energy site and to the iconic parliament building in Budapest.

In brief, a glimpse of the many attractions of a country that succeeded in charming the Monegasque delegation with its professionalism and assets.

This economic mission followed the visit last June of the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Mr Péter Szijjártó. He had then given an economic conference to MEB members during the inauguration ceremony of the new Hungarian Consulate in Monaco. A true catalyst for exchanges between the two countries.
